In 2016, IBM ‘ethical hackers’ conducted a cyber-attack to determine BMS risks. The team was able to gain access to one BMS via use of three IP addresses. At the close of the exercise, IBM pointed to a survey that found less than a third of building managers had taken measures to secure their BMS.
