Why Is Technology Readiness Knowledge Scarce?
Accurate knowledge of the value and risks that production technologies create for companies and countries is not widely shared, according to the World Economic Forum whitepaper published. Business executives, government leaders, and the public all needed clearer understanding of the state of technology readiness, adoption rates, and the converging impact of these technologies on the factory floor, on industries, and on society.
How Do These Technologies Change the Production Chain?
The five technologies recognized by the World Economic Forum affected every end-to-end step of the production process. They transformed the products consumers demanded, altered factory processes and physical footprints, and reshaped the management of global supply chains. The whitepaper also finds that these shifts changed industry rankings and affected which countries could access global value chains.

The World Economic Forum whitepaper, titled “Technology and Innovation for the Future of Production: Accelerating Value Creation,” covered how disruptive technologies shape production, what new opportunities exist for value creation, what the implications are for business and government leaders, and what action agenda companies and countries should pursue.
