As a director at 1898 & Co., Mark leads managed security services, supporting clients with 24/7 operations designed to continuously protect and manage their critical infrastructure operational technology (OT) network security.

Mark attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he studied mechanical engineering, before joining the U.S. Army as a commissioner officer. After earning a master’s in telecommunications from the University of Colorado, he worked on numerous networking projects including building, at the time, the largest Special Operations communications network for Operation Iraqi Freedom. Moving into dedicated cyber operations roles, Mark has served as an operations officer for the Army's Global Network Operations and Security Center as well as deputy director, Office of Counter Cyber Operations for the NSA/CSS Threat Operations Center and deputy director, Joint Cyber Center for the United States Central Command. Most recently, Mark built the North American managed security business for one of the top global information technology companies.

With over two decades of experience in network operations, information security, cybersecurity operations and managed security, Mark has an in-depth understanding of how security centers operate and knows what it takes to run them effectively and efficiently. This experience allows him to work with clients to develop and implement strategic plans for their unique industrial cybersecurity challenges.

What motivates Mark
Mark knows that part of the cybersecurity work he does is taking care of his family and the future. After being in the Army, he understands that threats are always evolving. He is motivated to continue to address these threats facing the nation, local governments and our critical infrastructure organizations. Mark and his team are passionate about protecting critical infrastructure and building effective defenses for critical infrastructure OT and industrial control systems.

An ideal day off for Mark includes hanging out with family and working around the house on his current home project.
